That's cool, this game could use the faster speed, but do you really think a mod like this was worth the time to make? I mean no leagues are actually going to use it, it's going to be a couple gimmick pubs and that's it.
but i agree, quickswitching would be awesome. and removing the 200ms bs nerf, and making the scope view like it is in tfc. just the dot, not the surrounding black area
#4 and #5 well if it's being posted about on gotfrag I assume there's supposed to be some league relevance to the post. I'm just saying I don't think any leagues will pick this up since it's just movement. Get in touch with CEVO, work on increased FOV, static damage and spread and maybe you have the workings of a prelim pro mod.
while porting previous DM games' movement into TF2 is an interesting idea, and that video showcased what that movement looks like fairly well, I would imagine that actual combat would be fairly uninteresting, and composed of people flying by each other doing minimal amounts of damage.
vanilla TF2's maps and weapons are based entirely around a relatively slow player movement speed. the weapons, especially, are only effective at close ranges.
if you give everyone the ability to move this fast all over the map without changing weapon characteristics--say, by making the rockets travel faster and increasing the effective range of hitscan weapons--it would seem to me that faster movement would be counter-productive to fast game play.
not to mention that TF2's current strategy is based entirely on a style of positioning and calculated pushes that are determined by slow run-speed and the threat of being overrun or trapped if you push up to far.
movement like TF2 turbo's works in other games because those games have the maps and weapons to match. if you try to make TF2's movement like this, there's a lot more you'll have to change before it becomes a functioning, let alone interesting game.
which isn't to say I don't applaud the effort and would love to see a new version of TF2 that was faster... as long as it works.
Just make a promod already. If you need a little more incentive wait for the upcoming Demoman nerf which will surely be similar in nature to the Sniper nerf.
lol 14, I remember playing fortress forever when it first came out and I was playing medic and I killed another medic when I was in their base. He told me I couldn't kill him, I was like "lol?". Then he explained the fantasy world of OvD and DvO and I cracked up.
no/limited-chase in TFC/FF is necessary because otherwise it becomes a big lame spammy yard battle. with no-chase then it was just simultaneous 4v5 OvD games. the rule set made the game a lot more fun.
I understand why they did it, but not being able to shoot somebody at all? Come on,that's just retarded. If you need rules that are that strict, then perhaps the game needs redesigning.
