tf2 demos.how to play?

How do you view downloaded tf2 demos?

all the demos on GF are from beta and cant be viewed anymore

thats a lie, i watched frod vs. the doctors and i never played the beta.

in game, type this in your console:
"viewdemo demoname"
demoname being the name of the file

i think thats the command

frods isnt old, cuz i just viewed it like 3 days ago before the last update
but it wont run now !

I'm not sure if anyone fully answered your question.
You have to unzip the file into your "...\Steam\steamapps\(your account name)\team fortress 2\tf" folder first. Then as uber-exile said, simply open your console (which you can enable in options>controls>advanced controls), and then type "playdemo" or "viewdemo" followed by the name of the demo you downloaded.

thats pretty gay how demos before the update wont work even though its still from the retail game, not beta

i like how every update of the source engine it forgets how to play demos of the previous version. never was an issue on hl1 engine :*( (i mean a 1.6 demo from 3 years ago still works, yes 1.5 -> 1.6 doesnt work)

I've never been able to viewdemo in source, is there something I'm missing?

Gotfrag TF2 admins aren't taking care of it on their end.

does anyone know if people are uploading demo's to other places that i can have access to?

I cant watch some demos, why ?

some of them says this "Missing RecvProp for DT_TFGameRulesProxy - DT_TFGameRules/m_bIsInArenaMode"

basically the way to play a tf2 demo is save your pipe grenades for emergencies like against scouts or taking down sentries and use stickies to set traps or spamming

Clearly it's an issue with the new update (looking at the "ArenaMode" thing), I'm sure Valve with fix it soon.

i always type demoui in console and use it tht way, i think there is also a demoui2

demoui2 is visually less obstructive, but demoui is more functional.

#10 because 1.6 never had a serious possible demo-breaking update since like 6 years ago at least.
