Today we look into the past and the present times of one of the most famous and top-notch (because of the level of teams participating) leagues in non-Korean world - WGTour ClanLeague
This league is currently experiencing its 17th incarnation. WGTCL consists of divisions, the total number of which is 15: one Higher division, Divisions 2a & 2b, Divisions 3a to 3d and Divisions 4a to 4h. To advance from the lower division to a higher one, a team should finish the season in the top2 of its current division. The last 4 teams in all divisions (except 4a-4h) relegate to a lower division. WGTCL is managed by volunteers, has its own unique maps and a set of rules. WGTCL Admin team: The upcoming series of articles will analyze the matches of each week in three divisions - the Higher (first), 2a & 2b. The Higher Division The 10 teams playing in WGTCL Div1 were always considered to be the finest non-Korean. Some of the teams are "visiting" the division from time to time, mostly browsing around the second Divisions. Some of the teams stay in the Higher Division and fight for the title of the best non-koreans. WGTCL Division 1 Season 17 teams: Matches of week 6: The results of week 6: Each week in WGTCL has a pre-assigned starting map. This week's starting map was Un'Goro Crater. The Americans of LighT managed to grab an almost easy win against the frequent visitor of Div1, an oldschool team from Germany named ASH. A featured player of this CW was the old player from USA Sadist[LighT], also known as 2p.Sadist.
Two leaders of current season clashed here with three times WGTCL champion, a team from Spain called LRM coming on top! This match featured the chilean derby of NbA vs pALLo. The latter was accused of hacking not so long ago and in this match he did everything to reabilitate himself once more. The Spanish team's long time player Roberto "eXeCuTor" Miranda showed his skill once again, winning over an also famous Canadian TT1. Overall, this match promised to be interesting - and it WAS interesting. NuNo, the head manager of LRM gave us a statement: A complete smash performed by the heavily sponsored team of Excello. This match featured a lot of stars in the xLo's roster - IdrA, A-Yu-Mi and LeiLei. I wonder, does anyone know that there is a girl in Russian cybersport named LyrA.Ayumi? She is a photographer and a newsmaker, but she for sure is not playing for xLo. This Korean player A-Yu-Mi is the newest addition to their roster - this guy won over an experienced kAra with a clean score. The progamer wannabe IdrA also took two wins fast and clear. This Russian derby proved the fact that training > skill. This had proof both in 1v1 and in the 2v2 draw. 3D.Sudden is winning almost all his games lately, he is on a killing spree! Its funny, how 3Dclan could take this with a good score even without their top-notch players in the faces of Notforu, TemujiN and StormToSS. Three out of four Russia's finest 2v2 players met in the 2v2 draw with mOsQ missing his teammate - atOmic. aFz/pAq team's pair proved to be stronger and score a goal of presstige in this CW. This game is postponed due to BW's internal roster problems. The current team position of Division 1 looks like this:
