Starcraft: rSports announces Starcraft team

By: Lucas Bigham - Published February 28, 2007 at 4:11 PM EST - Writer Archive
Today, I am very happy to announce the revival of the the rSports Starcraft Brood War division.
For many years, our team has been the home of some of the best players in the United States, Canada, and beyond. In the past, the Starcraft division has secured many top 3 finishes at the WCG USA and Canada finals along with several WGTour Clanleague titles. These are achievements that no other North American based organization has matched.

The Starcraft division has been around since the organization was formed. With all the changes happening in the organization this year we believe it is only necessary to go back to the organizations roots. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that all of the old players are returning. The roster for 2007 consists of several players who might not be to familiar to many outside of the United States. These gamers have been scouted by the organization for some time to make sure that they have the talent to live up to the rSports name.

Lets take a look at the Starcraft roster for 2007:

Lucas “Colbi” Bigham (Captain)
Adam “cancel” Daugherty
Benji “RoyCe” Vega
Chris “CrAzY” Kwon
Jacob “LordZerg” Winstead
Jeff “Iliath” Haynes
Michael “Theognis” McClelland
Tyler “NonY” Wasieleski

In 2006, these players finished 1st and 3rd at the WCG Southern Regionals (LordZerg & Iliath), 1st WCG Midwest Regionals (NonY), and 1st WCG Northeast Regionals (Theognis). Most of these gamers are also former members of the well-known teams sMi and Only.

“With all the changes going on within the team this year we thought it was only necessary to revive one of our original gaming divisions. Since many of the older rSports members have long since retired or gone inactive we wanted to form a team of mainly younger talent. Although, some of these gamers might not be as internationally known as others this doesn't mean that they're lacking in skill. I am very much looking forward to watching this team compete under the rSports name.”

“I believe that that the roster for rS will be better then ever this time around. We have a lot of talent, with some new talent and old. I am very happy to have been given the opportunity to play for rS”
