For possibly the last time, due to a Quake community clinging to life, the Quake4Life organization ended it's 5v5 CTF tournament, with a finals match pitting David versus Goliath. As Digital Infamy, the perverbial David entered the match, they knew they would need to perform nothing short of a miracle to take down their opponents The Rage Withing, this story's Goliath.

Throughout the season, TRW had showed that they deserved to be in the finals of this tournament by beating each one of their opponents in their division by enormous margins, and finishing the regular season unbeaten in Division 1. Unlike their Division 1 counterparts though, Digital Infamy faced several roadbumps on their way to the Finals match, including roster changes and losing several matches in the regular season and playoffs. Nonetheless, they arrived at the Finals with a daunting task ahead of them. Could they pull of the miracle win against the lossless team?

Though I would like to go on with this story about how DI rallied together and played a perfect game, winning this match in some kind of storybook comeback way, I cannot. Team DI, comprised of players like drad1k, d_avid, zedman, hollow, ceppy, masta_b, just weren't enough for the overpowered Team TRW. With players like icel0re, shizem, ff, NIGHT, cdogg, and intensity, it's hard to do anything really, and that's exactly what happened in this completely one-sided match. Within the first few second of the opening map, DI's defense collapsed under TRW's monstrous offense, made up of shizem, cdogg and NIGHT. Constant chain-capping and a hardened defense really kept Digital Infamy at bay and made it impossible it impossible to stage any kind of comeback. The second map would be played out much the same way, with DI managing to get 2 measely caps. This would not be enough as TRW went on the win the second map, and the match at that. Congratulations to all teams involved in the tournament, and especially to TRW for the big win.

Update: So it turns out that I made a journalistic error, and had some incorrect information in this story. Though TRW did beat DI, it did not make them the Champions of the league. Due to problems with tournament administration, there was never a clear winner of Division 2, meaning DI was not the Division 2 winner. The tournament admins decided that instead, all three tying teams would face TRW, and see if any of those teams could best the CTF giant. And like DI, Kitten's Litter and Team FP could not. So, again, I can truly report that TRW is the official winner of the Quake4Life CTF tournament.
