The Polish prodigy has done it again, beating Cooller on Phrantc and Placebo Effect to book a place in the grand final.
The look on Cooller's face when av3k came to shake his hand after this game spoke more than any words ever could. The Russian was soundly beaten on both maps, even his home map Phrantic. Av3k raised his game to spectacular heights, gaining revenge after the schooling Cooller had dealt him in the Upper Bracket. With a place in the grand final clearly within reach, there was just no stopping the Polish youngster. Sat with his legs crossed, as if without a care in the world, av3k ruthlessly put Cooller to the sword in one of the finest performances of his young career to date. For a long time Cooller has been perhaps one of the most feared opponents on Phrantc but there was nothing he could do against av3k here as his younger opponent took control early and held it for most of the match. The final score of 20 to 12 highlights just how big the gap was between the two players, with av3k's lightning gun and rocket launcher play close to perfect. Cooller was made to work for every health and armour piece he could find, with av3k in total control. You could tell the Russian's composure had been rattled and, after losing on his home map, perhaps the seeds of doubt began to grow in his mind. Placebo Effect is all about getting control early and running up a good lead and it was no surprise to see av3k do just that as he continued with more of the same on the second map. A similar score to Phrantic of 20 to 10 in favour of the Polish player was the inevitable result with av3k's rail and lightning gun scything down Cooller time after time. Cooller will now finish this event in a respectable third place but will be asking himself how an overtime defeat to Stermy and a loss against a player he had just easily beaten prevented him from taking home the top prize. There is room for improvement for the Russian but he has shown glimpses of what he is capable here at times and one hopes that is the Cooller we will see in the upcoming events of 2007. Av3k on the other hand now goes into one of the biggest games of his career, facing Stermy in the i30 grand final. No matter what the result, av3k can leave with his head held high but anyone who has talked to the 16 year old this weekend will known he will settle for nothing less than perfection. The bright lights and raving crowds of the Multiplay Finals stage is unlikely to phase him and Stermy could be in for a real tough night. | ||||||||||||||||||||
