Halo 3: Pro Style Settings included in the New Playlists

With the release of the new play lists on Wednesday, May 4, Bungie included some game types that lend themselves well to a more competitive and professional style of play. However, none of these made it to the top of the play lists to become the most often played, based on Bungie’s setup. Despite this, there are a few that are near the top of the list, and so will be played often enough.

Radar, as expected, has been retained on almost every game type except for Rockets or Swords-only variants. The list of game types which start the player out with a Battle Rifle include Team Rifles, Team Slayer “Human BR,” Slayer “Human BR,” Assault BR, Neutral Bomb BR, 1 Flag CTF Covenant BR, Rifle Duel, Multi Flag CTF BR, Multi Flag CTF Covenant BR and Multi Bomb BR. That’s 11 game types that start with BR, although they are scattered throughout the different play lists. What follows is a breakdown of BR starts throughout the play lists (other than Training) listed along with the map they are played on, and their positioning within the play list weighting system.

Team Slayer

Team Slayer BR

Burial Mounds: Appears 4th in the play list (from here on, it will simply be listed)

Team Slayer Human BR: has Human weapons as the weapon set.

Beaver Creek : 5th
Colossus : 7th
Coagulation : 11th

Team Rifles: Has Rifles as the weapon set

Ascension : 12th

Team Skirmish

1 Flag CTF BR

Burial Mounds: 2nd

Multi Flag CTF Covenant BR: Has Covenant weapons as the weapon set

Coagulation : 9th

Team Slayer BR

Coagulation : 22nd

Colossus : 23rd

1 Flag CTF BR

Coagulation : 18th

Team Preview

Team Slayer Human BR: Has Human weapons as the weapon set

Team Slayer BR:

Burial Mounds: 12th

Double Team

Team Rifles: Has Rifles as the weapon set

Ascension : 9th
Ivory Tower : 10th
Lockout : 11th

Rumble Pit

Slayer “Human BR”: Has Human weapons as the weapon set

Colossus : 7th

Rifles: Has Rifles as the weapon set

Burial Mounds: 9th
Colossus : 10th

Head to Head

Rifle Duel: Has Rifles as the weapon set

Ascension : 7th
Beaver Creek : 8th
Lockout : 9th

Worth noting is the fact that there no longer exists a single game type on Coagulation that does not start with a BR. Also, nearly every Colossus and Beaver Creek match either starts with a BR or uses Human as the weapon set to alleviate the Plasma Pistol/Battle Rifle combo that previously dominated those maps.
