After one year as the most dominant Halo 2 team, the OGREs, Saiyan, and Walshy have left Team 3D and will continue gaming under a new name for MLG New York this coming weekend. The team has won all but one event over the past year under the 3D tag including notorious events such as the World Cyber Games. Team 3D’s manager, Craig Levine, describes the reasons for the team's departure: “The players and I have been in discussions for several months and were offered a larger deal elsewhere by becoming MLG contracted players, and we came to a mutual decision to go our separate ways. The squad felt that the MLG contracts gave them new opportunities while Team 3D could allocate its sponsorships, funding, and resources towards a new direction.” “All four of them are amazing players but more importantly great people and we wish them the best of luck,” says Levine. “In my opinion, MLG’s approach to the market and management of players is going to be an interesting one to watch develop. I think that all of MLG's announcements are great, however, I also think that Halo 2 is limited due to a lack of spectator functionality and open development tools. Like everyone, I am excited to see how Halo 2 and the MLG season turn out on television.” The team will go under the name “Final Boss” for the remainder of the 2006 season. Regarding the team’s future, Walsh’s answer is “we've always been competitive no matter what team name we're playing under.” Final Boss's Roster: Dan “OGRE1” Ryan Tom “OGRE2” Ryan Dave “Walshy” Walsh Ryan “Saiyan” Danford |
