Halo 3: EG picks up Halo 2

By: Philip Yoe - Published October 09, 2005 at 6:58 PM EDT - Writer Archive
The Canadian Counter-Strike powerhouse team has started a new gaming Halo 2 gaming division. They have brought on Nelson Triana, Jason The, Jason Powell and Cody Wheeler to form EG's first non Counter-Strike team in several years.
Team EG has been better known for their Counter-Strike team, however, today they announced that they will be adding a Halo 2 division to their organization. This will mark the first time in several years that EG will play a game other than Counter-Strike. Without further ado, the four new Team EG members are:

Canada Nelson Triana
Canada Jason The
United States Jeff Powell
United States Cody Wheeler

All four players are seasoned veterans of the game. Both The and Triana will be representing Canada and Team EG at the World Cyber Games 2005 Grand Finals in Singapore. Triana attended last years WCG Final in San Francisco and placed second in the Halo 2 tournament. The four man roster's first official event will be at the Major League Gaming (MLG) Western Conference Championship in Los Angeles, California and GGL Digital Life tournament in New York. Triana, The and Wheeler will all be in attendance at the MLG, and Powell will be at the Digital Life tournament.

Kirt Kolach and Jimmy Lin of EG's Counter-Strike team hang out with the new members, Jason The and Nelson Triana, at the World Cyber Games 2005 Canadian Finals.

As already mentioned, both Triana and The will be in Singapore to represent Canada at the World Cyber Games. However, the other two members of the team are very skilled as well. Cody, despite being only fifteen years of age, has been a dominant force in the Missouri Halo scene. He has won multiple local LAN events and will be looking to continue that trend in Team EG. Jeff has also had his fair share of LAN victories in Halo 2. He also placed second at the CPL Summer 2005 event with H2O.

"For Team EG, it makes absolute perfect sense to add Halo 2 at this point in time. We've been talking to these players for a long time now, and not only are they among the North American Halo 2 elite, but they're hungry and driven as well." said Alex "chibsquad" Garfield, manager of Team EG, "From a management perspective, you can't ask for much more than that. Thanks to Newegg.com, Team EG Halo 2 is alive and in full swing, with two events coming up this weekend."

The official press release from Team EG can be found on the next page.
