Robert “sp0rk” Hull sits down with Frag Dominant’s Corey “JaGGoN” Marko and noLuck’s Craig “Jackson” Young to talk about the Cal Invite Championship finals match on dod_Harrington. Christian Tweedy will be doing some predictions. JaGGoN on noLuck’s playstyle: well on a map like rr1, it’s pretty essential that you always have someone lurking to break mid, which noLuck did. Willeh had a bunch of clutch moments. Monster never caught on to anything noLuck was doing and just got outplayed. noLuck has adapted their playstyle a little since we played them last on Harrington in week 6, and I think they will be a serious challenge now as they are no longer a one-dimensional team that just pushes forward and dies. Jackson on Frag Dominant’s playstyle: Frag Dominant is a very strong team in the sense that they outfrag you on all parts of the map. If were going to compete with them or win were going to need to all have great games and be able to hold our routes. They are also very good at knowing when to push. Once they take something such as mid on Harrington, they are able to hold it only push when they see the right opportunity. JaGGoN on key players for the match: Well for us the key players are going to be Tox and mexicant. noLuck’s long team is their strength and if Jared and Chris can hold down Jackson and equis, it will make holding the entire map much easier. For noLuck, their mountain team will need to be strong. Ryan and grant are horribly frustrating to play against and can get into a heavy team's heads quite easily. Leroy is the player who will surprise people from noLuck. he’s pretty underrated and if willeh can play the role of specops on noLuck, Leroy can play the role of Ryan. For us, I feel like cypher is going to have a big match. He’s finally gotten comfortable with the team and our play styles and when Sean is comfortable, it starts raining no scopes (and men). Jackson on key players for the match: In my opinion everyone on our team is going to have to play good because I feel that our strong point is our teamwork rather than any individual having a big game. For Frag I think that they are all extremely talented players who at any point can go on a rampage and well have to see which player it is when the time comes. JaGGoN on Frag Dominant’s ability to play Harrington: Well Tox is the best stoss this game has seen since nick ward of team elephant, so on axis he will really surprise noLuck on long again (last match he got 50 against them with a stoss), while our mountain team has some trouble on axis most of the time. On allies, Ryan will put up big numbers and I usually have a pretty strong half every match so I think it’ll be my garand half. Jackson on noLuck’s ability to play Harrington: If I were to pick the weakest part of our team for this map, it would probably be mid. If were going to play well against Frag were going to have to be able to work together as a team and rotate to mid when needed and make sure Frag is not able to control the rest of the map through mid. JaGGoN on noLuck’s ability to play Harrington: On axis, willeh and Leroy will have a rough time going mountain vs. Ryan and grant with bars. Jackson will annihilate with a kar like always. On allies, Leroy should have a very strong half on mountain, and if he does and has control of ladder all the time, iorio should be able to have a great allied half in mid. Poor dean is gonna have a rough time on allies though. I saw that missed clutch vs. monster kiddo! Jackson on Frag Dominant’s ability to play Harrington: no comment. JaGGoN’s closing thoughts: shoutouts to muh homie Alan willyamz, muh dawg brad murdocKKKK. Ricky rambizzle and jpeezY. Good luck to noLuck this week, I know this will be a fun match to play (or possibly 2 matches!) <3 spork Jackson’s closing thoughts: screw closing thoughts. Christian: So we've finally reached the finals of another eventful invite season of Day Of Defeat. Let's run down through a few of the more memorable stories of the season -Super winning invite placement then declaring that they were the best team in invite. Yep, you guys really lived up to that! -The banning then unbanning of BitchX, which led to solid Gotfrag reading material. -AYE beating super in their last match of the season. Kevin Gardner could finally sleep at night. -Amor to ePredators to Nefarious to Monster. ANYWAYS, this week we get to see Frag Dominant AKA Online Thunder take on NoLuck. NoLuck of course beat Amor/ePredators/Nefarious/Monster last night in an entertaining and close match on rr1 which was decided by less then 20 points with the last cap of the match coming from willeh who must have made all the cs pub kids jealous with a clutch "hold down mouse1 and w key for the kill" for the cap which would give noLuck the lead and eventually the win. Harrington is the ultimate movie footage map which will work quite nicely for the members of FD especially Sean Kalas who will be looking to no scope iorio from upper connector to mid steps each time. The battle at mountain could be one of epic proportions, look for some epic sewer prone spots and all around slow play from BOTH teams (If Christian Hatmaker has the time to show Leroy and Willeh how to prone) I would talk about long but long is long. I'm hoping for someone to use the kanguh proned kar spot in front of axis second, then to move onto the other epic prone spot beside the arch. This should be a good match but I have to go with the favorites on this one. I'll take FD by 100. |
