Day Of Defeat: CAL-Invite Season 18 Week 2 Predictions

By: Robert Hull - Published February 12, 2008 at 8:34 PM EST - Writer Archive
Robert “sp0rk” Hull is joined by General Infantry’s Toeknee Compton to break down week 2 of CAL-Invite on Chemille.
United Gamers vs. Butt Naked Gamers

Robert: United Gamers is coming off a strong win against Dumbledore’s Army, and BnG is coming off a tough match against Legion which was overturned due to ACS problems, so right now I’m thinking UG has the upper hand, although not giving BnG credit for initially losing to one of if not the best team online is wrong of me. BnG’s ridiculously experienced roster pits Que against Bluerevolver in factory, and Dyelife and arn rifling against Jordan lak and alpha. Underpass we have spoon and hXc and what I feel is a very underrated heavy team, against bosely and either Stevie or blonde on the heavy. I feel like BnG’s factory team has the advantage, although que will more that likely have his hands full with blue but knowing hXc, he won’t run his route although it won’t matter because that’s what he does, dropping 50 in 12mans. Not to mention khoi has a knack for providing much needed support from wherever he is on the map.

Players to watch: hXc and both factory teams.

Tony: I’ve had the pleasure of scrimming both of these teams on chemille, and both look solid. This match has the potential to provide some fireworks, especially at factory. Dyelife has always been nothing short of perfect at factory, and the new addition of my facebook lover Aaron “arn” Poirier seems to be working out well so far. Que is one of the better chemille snipers I’ve played against, and can hold balcony or triple stack with ease, allowing dyelife and arn to push wood. Andy “lil jon” Sheen, Khoi, and bluerevolver will be in charge of containing BnG’s main attack. All in all I see factory being about as close as it can get, which means underpass is going to be important in this match. Stevie and hxc both play aggressive heavy roles, which should be interesting to watch as a bar flanking factory can really open up any close match. And, both are backed up by smart partners in bosley and spoon, respectively. If UG can capitalize off of good flanks and BnG’s mistakes, they should be able to muster enough points for an early season upset. I’m taking my boys at #nogo with a short edge over BnG. Sorry Aaron.

Players to watch: dYeLife, stevie and hxc with bars, andy sheen, khoi’s nades.
