Day Of Defeat: CAL-Main Predictions: Week 12

By: Brendan O'Conor - Published June 13, 2006 at 8:22 AM EDT - Writer Archive
Read on to see predictions from Todo, odm, Mitch Graham, Ploofer and Slaughter regarding this final week of the regular season and what it means for the playoffs.
CAL-Main Week 8 Chemille Predictions

3h [15]

vs.

teamdiscostu [17]

It's the end of the season and by now a fair share of the energy is out in many of the teams, 3h and tds included. While 3h has indicated that getting 6 this week could be a bit of a problem, tds isn't exactly the epitome of activity either. Last week 3h probably surprised a few by receiving their first forfeit loss of this very long season but if I had to take a guess I'd say that it'll be their last. As of now, by my personal calculations, there are 20 teams in Main right now that can be considered active; that is, being scheduled. With a 16-team playoff, there will be only 4 teams to not make it, and as of today tds is the 4th with 3h dangerously close with the 15th spot. Though it's very doubtful that either team will make it far into the playoffs, to make it at all could be the spark that either team needs to re-ignite some of the potential that can be found in each roster. So maybe we'll get lucky and these teams will give us a good match in hopes of escaping the non-playoff minority.

That being said, there are a few weapons on both sides should each team actually field six. Explodey and Knubbe have come to the forefront to lead tds these days and it's mainly because of them, mostly Knubbe, that they have six to play each week. They haven't forfeit since April 27th so I don't see them burning out again now in perhaps their final match of the season. It'll be their match to win and if they actually want to see another match, I hope they can break down and play up to where they need to be. 3h, on the other hand, is loaded. If likwid, Jeff Kimbro, and s0v all show up, I don't think there are many rifle teams in Main who can shut them down. Beyond that, 3h has depth. meow, Hvk, Mogers, motiv, rambizzle... you name the gun, and they have 3 or 4 guys who could drop 30 with it. I'm going to go with 3h because if they do grab 6, they'll be too hard for tds to handle, and I think they'll bounce back from their forfeit to keep a playoff spot.

Todo's Prediction: 3h by 75

At the beginning of this season I thought 3h could break .500 easily given their array of talent. But 11 weeks later they are struggling to capture the 13th playoff seeds. The road hasn’t been any easier for tds, though. They weren’t able to capture back-to-back wins this entire season, and the last time they played on donner they lost by 2 points. On the plus side, I did see Knubbe spamming for a scrim a few times so maybe they haven’t completely given up yet. The key to this map for both teams will be strong sniper play and coordinated rifle attacks. The axis sniper is going to have to keep the loft on lockdown at all times, but I don’t see either having the ability to really shut down middle for this team. tds has a strong rifle in Dullumis, and he is going to have to put up big numbers to help his team hold the middle. 3h appears to have the advantage in heavies, so if they can keep bunker shut down and flood the mid they could cause some real problems all match long. In the end, I see tds squeezing this one out with more teamwork due to more scrimming.

odm's Prediction: tds by 10-

EXTREME MATCH UP. Probably the best match up team for team in the
entire week of CAL. Let's see if 3xtreme Humiliation can must 6 to
throw up against Dullumis and Co. Should be a pretty good match. LOL,
just kidding it's dod_donner. So, expect the slowest gameplay ever. If
dullumis can get himself into Suze it could create some problems for
team 3h.
Players to watch: s0v, dullumis

Mitch's Prediction: tds by 5-

3h is getting back into match play after a loss to nL, and a week off after that. They should take a victory here. But on donner nothing will be easy, again it comes down to anguish holding mid, and the heavies getting bunker. That should cause tds to fold, and maybe give up a cap or two, look for a big streak or two by motiv pushing out of bunker.
Key players: motiv, anguish, onyx, zegermans

Ploofer's Prediction: 3h by -60

3h is looking pretty bad this season, but not quite as bad as tds. hvk will dominate in mid on sniper, with just enough support from the rest of his handicapped teammates to frag-whore. tds won't scrim, prepare, let alone try or care (I just made a rhyme). This will result in ultimate defeat.
Players to watch: hvk, explodey

Slaughter's Prediction: 3h by 40+

NihilisT [18]

vs.

Did That Hurt? [21]

dtH has forfeited four consecutive weeks now, which leads me to question why they were scheduled this week. I do believe that InSaNe has been looking into the inactive teams, though, and if he scheduled them then I guess I have faith that they'll show up for this final match. It would be silly for Ben to set Helix to inactive but not dtH unless he knows that they'll show up. I'm skeptical that this match will happen, but I'll give you some reading just in case it actually does. Right now dtH is in dead last place at 21st and for them to win would bring their final record to 3-9 and an RPI maybe in the high 300s or low 400s. There are only three active teams with three wins or less, one of them being NihilisT, which means that even with an amazing RPI boost, dtH will not be seeing playoff action this season. NihilisT, walking the fence with a 3-8 record, is currently in 18th place and out of the playoffs. They must win this in order to get in.

dtH has a lot of skill on their team and my guess is that they'll be able to surprise a few teams at the CPL when they presumably try after this dismal CAL-M performance. With Arn, James (WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!), hayyez and Rastaman, this team has some weapons that just haven't been used thus far this season. NihilisT isn't lacking either. With Peep they have one of the more experienced and difficult snipers in Main and if he has a good game, we all know that Donner can be won or lost by the scope. They also picked up Tidus and lerfooled towards the end of the season which should help them a fair amount. And last but not least, NihilisT is home of my new CS buddy, teamownerrr. This match will be made and broken by how close each team is to their respective potential. Neither has gotten even close this season, and I doubt dtH will even show up, but both teams could win this with a little bit of effort. I'm going to give an ambiguous answer with this. If dtH shows up and plays for the hell of it, they'll win. My prediction is that they won't.

Todo's Prediction: dtH by 50 or NihilisT by 1

dtH is *still* dead. NihilisT will be hoping for a tds loss so they
aren’t stuck with the 16th seed and the reward of playing JETTY on
Harrington.

odm's Prediction: NihilisT by 1

HOOOOOOOOO boy. Watch out, Nihilist. You guys may struggle against the awesomeness of the CAL Page. When the CAL webpage gets busy it
crashes. You guys need to be careful when you're filling out that 1-0
win against a dead team. I would expect you guys to /query
dtH|platypus[nadd], and ask him "Did that hurt?!!?!" for all the
proper shit talking necessary.
Players to watch: Teamowner on IRC. He knows his sports, and
Liah{FS}`dbc says this about him: "he's a black man, but doesn't sound
like he's black."

Mitch's Prediction: NihilisT by 1

Once again nihilist tries ever so hard to win a match, and with lerfooled leading the way they should have won by now. My guess as to why they have been losing would be due to a lack of scrimming, caring, communication, and individual skill. It's too late for jordan to fix it, but lucky enough for them DTH has FF'ed the last 4 weeks in a row. This will give nihilist a startling 4th win.

Preschool Teaparty Massacre [13]

vs.

Icons of Vanity [16]

ptm surprised me and a few others by beating Super last week. I had the privelege of scrimming stealth beforehand and he was either cheating or COMPLETELY on top of his game. After the first 15 minutes of the first half, he had 45 and nobody else on their team was above 18. But whatever it was, it worked, and ptm gave us a lot more trouble than I expected them to. Donner is, once again, a map that could easily be won or lost by the scope, and on that count this is ptm's match. In terms of what this match means for the playoffs, ptm is safely in. With 5 wins, there is no way that they could slip to the 17th spot after this week. VANITY, on the other hand, could be in trouble. Without focusing on forfeits, they only have 4 wins and this puts them within reach of tds and NihilisT. They currently have the 16th and final playoff slot and should they lose, they could be in trouble. Regardless, of their 4 wins, 3 of them come from forfeit, and if my Japanese source is correct, this disqualifies them automatically. VANITY better start making up some matches, or some lucky team is going to get a free trip to the playoffs courtesy of the Frenchies.

As of now I don't see how ptm could lose. They're coming off of a rr performance that shocked all but one of GotFrag?'s predicters, and for that I plan to fire Slaughter. Just kidding. Now we know what ptm can do, and it's up to them to use last week as a bit of an energy boost for Donner. Stealth should have a field day as his experience has made him one of the better snipers in Main right now. Given his good positional awareness and all of the windows and sniper spots on Donner, VANITY will probably just become his bullet fodder. Complementing his sniping will be ptm's strong rifles. phox, d0za, lockdown, st|ck, untouchable, and kirk can all do a lot of damage with the rifle. Which of these weapons ptm chooses to use is up to them. VANITY has two very good rifles with Liquid and pothead, but it won't be enough against ptm. The Frenchies will most likely not scrim and they'll come poorly prepared to the match. ptm should take the win and perhaps even one of the bigger margins of the week.

Todo's Prediction: ptm by 150

So ptm beat Super on railroad, props to them. Vanity took a ff win over
dtH, but may have been too high to even notice they had a match. The
last time ptm played donner, they got handled by no Luck, but since then
they have made a few pickups that could really help them control the
middle of the map (namely untouchable). Meanwhile, vanity lost to cbR by
a cap on their last donner conquest. As far as playoffs go, ptm needs a
win to prevent tumbling to the bottom of the pack, while vanity just
hopes to avoid the bottom seed. ptm definitely knows what is at stake
this week, and I see stealth holding down middle both halves and praying
that one of the other 6-win teams takes a loss.

odm's Prediction: ptm by 20+

If PTM shows up they have this match on lock down. The Frenchies are
washed up. If they scrimmed they would be a good team. It's amazing to
see them from keeping it close to zerokelvin to getting rocked by just
about any other team in CAL anymore. Phox is a beast, and I expect him
to throw the gauntlet down this week.
Players to watch: Phox, Greenbudz

Mitch's Prediction: ptm by 50+

In will be a uphill battle for IoV, as Stealth will control middle with his scope. Probably one of the few matches where there will be a full capture. Ptm should have full control of this match from the start, unless they come in to just expecting a bump in the road.
Key players: Stealth, GreenBudz

Ploofer's Prediction: PTM by 85+

Last week I was the only person to correctly predict ptm to win. Everyone else picked super, for reasons I will never know. I will be correct again this week (if they have 6!). Donner is such a slow map that I think the individual skill of ptm beats out that of icons, although thrawn will be a pest in most places. If icon wants to win this they are going to have to be VERY patient. It's going to be hard to do with stealth being not-stealthy and running around headshotting people.
Players to watch: thrawn, kirk

Slaughter's Prediction: ptm by 25-

no Luck [7]

vs.

System Elite [9]

These two teams appear to be headed in separate directions as no Luck has climbed its way to a very good 6-2 record and a sure spot in the playoffs which is fairly remarkable given that they missed the first 3 matches and still did well enough to get to a win-based postseason. Unfortunately for System Elite, it seems that they'll be passing no Luck's climb on their way down. After starting off the season so surprisingly well, I believe they've become relatively disenchanted with each other and it's a bit painful to watch. Laura's recent thread is an indicator of nwP's inactivity among their 12 rostered players and I don't think they expected Noble or seaN to come to play last week. LiNkS missed last week, meX was moved to rifle as Schmiggs had a strong game with the sniper, max's computer blew up, and seaN is just not pleased at all. Right now it looks like the sooner the season ends, the better for nwP.

This match will most likely be no Luck's from start to finish. nwP could play it really slow and do to nL what dtH did to Unreachable, but as far as I know that's not their style. In terms of raw skill, the middle will belong to no Luck all day long. Iorio is about as strong as they come with the sniper and Equis and Jackson are two very experienced and skilled rifles. This trio will be very hard to beat. Willeh and texican are a decent heavy team but if seaN and Noble play I think the bunker area and general heavy battle will side with nwP. Unfortunately, the bunker isn't where the crucial flag is and even if LiNkS has a strong performance, and he most likely will, he won't get the support he needs to give nwP the edge. Look for no Luck to take a convincing win here as both teams fight only for a better playoff seed.

Todo's Prediction: no Luck by 100

So did nL officially kill hsb or was it just a coincidence that they
died shortly after the match last week? Either way that was absolute
domination. Meanwhile, nwp had a ton of trouble stopping sweat from
running them over. Both teams could really use a final week win to boost
their playoff seedings and give themselves an easier match up in the
first round, but a loss wouldn’t really crush either team. Unfortunately
for nwp, nL is just sporting a much better squad of players. iorio will
lock down the middle of the map for majority of the 40 minutes, even
with nwp putting Schmiggs back on sniper. Schmiggs may have the
experience advantage, but iorio is surrounded by a superior rifle team.
nwp’s only hope is that Showtime turns on the extra randomness this week and gets a few spinning, 180 degree, across the map, through the wall headshots.

odm's Prediction: nL by 30+

I must give props to noLuck for killing hsb. It really was a great
moment in e-hilarity and e-history. noLuck scrims and systemelite is
borderline dead with the amount of inactivity, not having their
starting 6, intra-clan hatred, etc. noLuck will probably embarass
SystemElite badly on this match. Iorio will probably end up just
dropping close to 50 allied half if he can sit in yellow house looking at
the axis 2.
Players to watch: Iorio

Mitch's Prediction: noLuck by 100+
Last week no Luck completely demolished hsb after they almost lost by FF. They also did it with a relatively busy HLTV recording. They are obviously made for online play and don't care who's watching, they just do their thing. I expected systemelite to win last week but they sucked it up to schweiss, making me lose faith in their abilities. No luck is full of up-and-comers who are going to do a lot of damage here.
Players to watch: iorio, laura

Slaughter's Prediction: no Luck by 60+

JETTY [1]

vs.

Unreachable [2]

This match is without a doubt the match of the week, no matter how much Unreachable may argue with me. Probably the biggest surprise of this entire CAL-M season was dtH's defeat of Unreachable in the first Donner week of the season. The match was ultimately overturned in 0|K's favor, and they've since improved a lot and gained a significant amount of confidence, but it shows how a certain playstyle could turn it all around on Donner. As far as I know, JETTY is far more sure of their skill than dtH was and I don't think they'll rely on the same tactics to get a win, but they also know what a win takes, and if they're getting outmatched then I don't think they'll hesitate to slow it down a bit. In terms of the playoff picture, JETTY is currently the number one seed and Unreachable stands at second. No matter the result of this, or any other, match, these two teams will occupy the first two seeds and it's up to this match to see whether Unreachable can grab first or not.

Unreachable is one of my favorite clans to predict because, through random interviews and prediction threads, you more or less know exactly what you'll be getting from them. Their mid team is very strong and I expect the battle for the tank to be intense throughout the match. girkins is probably the most experienced sniper in Main and with Rick, clutch and hostile flanking him, it won't be easy for JETTY at all. Unreachable has made it very clear that they won't be playing very slow because they'd rather take the loss than sit in a mid house for 5 minutes, and if they can't hit their shots then this could become a problem for them. Hudson's recent move to the heavies is a bit unfortunate as most of us remember his Donner ace and general skill on the map with a rifle, but he and Gabe are one of the better heavy teams in Main right now and it should be interesting to see the kind of pressure that Unreachable can get from their bunker team. On JETTY's side of things, jg, ox, and steve hisey are three very skilled rifles who could give Unreachable some trouble at the middle. I believe JETTY's real strength, however, can be found in their heavy team. Buzzbee + surge vs. Hudson and Gabe will be a match-up with 4 of the best heavies around today, and if neither team plays it too slow then there will be a lot of skill going in an out of bunker. It could be up to Buzzbee and surge to help their rifle team out as I expect clutch and girkins to make middle Unreachable's. It will all depend on how JETTY plays, I believe. Donner could be considered a bit of a weakness for 0|K and if JETTY thinks they need to camp a bit in order to win, they're about 10x more skilled than dtH and that much more capable of pulling it off. If this match is fast paced, I'm giving it to Unreachable, and that's my prediction as of now. But it's all too easy to change...

Todo's Prediction: Unreachable by 30

The match of the week will determine the number one seed in playoffs
this season, and should be an indicator of the eventual CAL-Main
Champion. I could look on paper and go down the list of match ups in
this battle but it’s going to come down to one thing: donner is a
terrible, horrible, very bad map. Luckily for JETTY, 0|K hates the map
more than they do, and this could be all they need to tip the scale in
their favor. As long as JETTY doesn’t secretly ask 0|K to play on
harrington, have that request fulfilled, get 12 men in the server on
harrington, and try to take screenshots only for 0|K to decide they want
to play donner instead at the last minute, JETTY should win this one. Ok
fine, I will talk about matchups. Sniper – JETTY has 3 good snipes so
they win that one. Rifles – Whoever doesn’t snipe for JETTY will be a
better rifle that what 0|K throws at them. Heavies – JETTY has buzzbee,
but 0|K has gabe and Hudson so they win that one. And since having
dominant heavies won’t win you a donner match up….JETTY wins.

odm's Prediction: JETTY by 10+

Clash of the titans or some crap like that. Jetty will have this one I
believe. We've seen how unreachable does on donner (I'm sure that did
hurt), and Jetty is about 10000000000000000000000000000000000 times better than dth. If hudson and matt can get going this match may
be a little different. I hope it stays close, but I see the problems
that zerokelvin might face at bunker will allow a 3rd along with surge
and buzzbee to run the map.

Mitch's Prediction: Jetty by 50

If you were to watch any match this week I would say this will be the best to view. Two of the top teams in Main, and on donner, where one nade can change the flow of the map anyone could take this. Whoever gets that two, or three person nade kill or streak at the beginning will be the team that walks away with this.
Key players: JETTY patience, wood, girkins.

Ploofer's Prediction: Jetty by -10

MOTW right here. Main's two top teams go head to head on one of the least popular maps ever used in CAL (next to awful muhle). It will be a little back and forth but I expect the performances of smellypants and brett to do most of the damage. If matt emmons is on his game he is capable of dominating middle single-handidly. What JETTY has going for them is their good team work and surge, but I just don't think they can muster up a win this week over 0|k who is looking really, really good.
Players to watch: surge, smellypants(change your name back kthx)

Slaughter's Prediction: Unreachable by 60-

Super Clan [14]

vs.

ARMY Gaming [11]

I really expected Super to do a lot better than they did last week against ptm. I predicted them to top ptm by 250 because they seem like they've been a very strong team all season. Up until ptm they had trouble only with irawr and JETTY, two of the best teams in the league, and their loss last week really hurt their playoff chances. The fact that they got moved up late doesn't start them off too well, but with only 4 wins in 7 weeks it's questionable whether they'll make it in or not. Right now Super is in 14th place and, with 4 wins, within reach of tds and NihilisT. I would need to do some calculations and write a few things down, but right now with all of the bottom teams facing each other, I don't believe that Super can be bounced from the playoffs. Meanwhile, ARMY Gaming is sitting pretty with a 6-5 record and a sure spot in the playoffs. ARMY has been a bit up and down this season, blowing out teams like ptm while having trouble with teams like careface. They've got some good players, none of whom anyone really knows aside from lampro and makhen, and it'll be up to this team to have a strong game if they want to take out Super.

With rotCOD and hD Super arguably has the advantage with the heavies. Mid is what matters on Donner and, depending on how you play it, bunker could become completely unimportant, but if these two can push out effectively then a break from mid alley or a push out towards either second flag could really stall ARMY for long enough to cap the mid. Outside in the middle, Super has a lot of depth at rifle. stanley of old aCtion fame is a very good rifle and if he plays he can do a lot of damage to his fellow South American buddies. Jinks and Boofer are also very solid and with this team I don't expect Super to have much of a problem at mid. From what I remember, ARMY has had a bit of a problem with a complete group of 6. Lampro will own, makhen will own, and kurcz will own, but past that I don't think ARMY is in a good position against what Super has. It'll be up to Super to bounce back from a poor railroad performance and secure a playoff spot, and I'm fairly certain that that's exactly what they'll do.

Todo's Prediction: Super by 100

Last week, Super lost a tough match to ptm while ARMY made NihilisT
their bitches. With a win, ARMY could potentially boost themselves to
the top half of the playoff seedings, while Super could really benefit
from a win and making up early season matches. On donner everything goes back to the sniper battle, and ARMY has this one won. makhen is
ridiculous with this gun, even with his high ping disadvantage. Super
does have stanley on rifles to give them a boost, but Lampro and kurcz
have too much skill and great chemistry to lose the mid for any extended
period of time. The only chance Super has is to get doctor ninja’ed in
the 2^nd house and pray they can hold off the hounds as he makes his way to the final flags.

odm's Prediction: ARMY by 20+

I came to a moral conclusion. I refuse to pick SUPER to win ANY match
even if they will win. It's about respect, and SUPER is a bunch of
idiots. I'm hoping the South Americans drop their rates to match the
crap SUPER does, and they prone, prone-stack, prone behind walls no
one conceived before, etc. to win this match.
Players to watch: Mahken, Lampro

Mitch's Prediction: ARMY by 10+

It’s hard to tell in this match, will a large ping, or large amount of proning take the win. Super should hold bunker, and will show ARMY many new proning spots in bunker area. Rotcod will be the biggest factor in holding middle for super. If that happens they should take it, but ARRMY’s rifles are just too strong.
Key players: rotcod, mahken

Ploofer's Prediction: ARMY by -25

I don't even know who super is (except for rotcoD, who I believe I pubbed with ages ago) but I hope they lose. 'Why is that' you ask? Just because. Oh, and I'm pretty sure foreigners love donner and are very good at it and having lampro on rifle is a bonus for them.
Players to watch: rotcoD, lampro

Slaughter's Prediction: ARMY by 75+

Team Rage [12]

vs.

irawrgamers [8]

After a tough loss against Unreachable last week, irawr should get a bit of a break as they play the largely indifferent Team Rage. irawr is regarded as one of the better teams in Main right now and their 6-4 record does very little justice to their skill. This season they've earned a surprise loss against the inconsistent ptm and then lost close matches against gueros, hsb and Unreachable, all top teams in their own right. Fortunately for irawr, I'd be surprised if tR has scrimmed once this entire season. I had the opportunity to play a make-up match against them on Harrington last week and they're a decent team, but I don't think they've collectively got the ability to try a whole match. It was close in the beginning but once we capped once it was downhill from there and by the end they were sending six mid. Their record is safe enough that they could risk replacing a forfeit win with a loss in order to slip under the bar and into the playoffs, and that's what they were able to do last week. irawr, on the other hand, stands equally secure in their playoff spot with a 6-4 record and no forfeit wins thus far.

Despite how much they enjoy knocking him, irawr lost a strong player when prop's parents cut the internet. Fortunately for them, they're loaded with depth and xpx and Tony Campbell are very capable of stepping up to the challenge. The recent announcement of TAP's CPL attendance could prove to be a bit unfortunate for irawr as this steals the focus away from the team in odm and xpx's cases, but against tR I don't imagine that it will become very noticeable. xpx should have little trouble handling bunker and I imagine that whatever irawr's rifle team can't handle, xpx will take care of from the exits and middle alley. With the loss of prop, irawr shifted norecoil to the sniper and added wickedpete as the third rifle, and with ed on the kar/garand you really can't go wrong with irawr's mid team. odm has recently been benching himself for one reason or another so it's up to them whether he plays this week or not, but if he does then middle will become nearly unattainable for tR. Caffeine Addict is probably going to be the one source of trouble coming from tR's end as his rifle is very dangerous, but without the necessary support it'll be easy enough for irawr to take care of him. I see this as being one of the more lopsided matches of the week, and each team will be playing for a better seed and, if nothing else, just to play the game.

Todo's Prediction: irawr by 150

Good luck, have fun. We might even show up with 6!

odm's Prediction: = =

Thank the stars that Rage did not get scheduled against a dead team.
Now they get to play irawr. I don't believe this to be close, but I
foresee talon employing a machine gun to slow the onslaught that is
irawr. I do not expect a close match, but I could be surprised. Good
luck to both teams. You guys are cuties.

Mitch's Prediction: irawr by 75+

irawr should take this if they can get a solid 6, it seems ever week they struggle. The only difference would come from a machine gun on tR’’s part, which teams have seen before. But whoever is sniping for irawr, be it odm, tony, or prop they should be able to handle the machine gun.
Key players: xpx because he top frags :D, talon because he likes donner.

Ploofer's Prediction: irawr by 40+

irawr is going to be all over team rage like cableguy on a mcgriddle. Like a fat kid on a cupcake. Like white on rice. Get the point? Oh ya, propaganda on mid.
Players to watch: caffeineaddict, propaganda

Slaughter's Prediction: irawr by 80+

Losgueros [3]

vs.

Aborted [4]

I checked the CAL site this morning as I was beginning to set up this article and was a bit surprised by Losgueros' forfeit against JETTY last week. I heard that they had rescheduled for Sunday and I imagine that InSaNe was waiting on their result to put up schedules, but it's possible that Sunday came around and Losgueros just didn't have 6 around. Either that or they figured they could take the forfeit loss and not really hurt their record too bad, as opposed to facing perhaps the most dangerous team in Main. Regardless, my guess is that they'll ignore this and come into the playoffs as strong as ever. As of now they own the third seed in the playoffs and the only way for them to drop back from that is if they lose. The only thing that rests on this match is the seed, and should they lose it'll be Aborted that moves into their third place spot. Both teams have forfeited once this season for various reasons but in this extended season, it could happen to any team.

In terms of raw skill, I have to side with Losgueros on this match. With godfather, chuck, SUB and odd, they shouldn't have much of a problem handling mid and I don't think that Aborted really has the rifle team to match. ProstaR is perhaps Aborted's best player, but he heavies and it's often difficult for a heavy to dictate a match on Donner. Unless he can either have a really good game or find a way to exploit a weakness in Losgueros, his skill may become somewhat ineffective in this match and most likely under-utilized. Out in the middle Aborted has osto on sniper and gloin and stuart on the rifles. Osto is strong but I don't think he'll be able to do as much in this match as he would like to do. Recently gloin has been having trouble and he seems to have sworn off online DoD, or at least caring about it, so I don't see Aborted as being much of a force in the middle. xome is weak on the heavies and sexualmayo appears to have disappeared from Aborted's picture, so both of those points will work against them. With Losgueros, their strengths can be found more in their rifles than in their heavies and that's going to help them on this map. chuck is a beast once he gets into the suze and SUB has no problem camping back in the loft or church, so I don't see this going very well for Aborted at all. It might take a bit for Losgueros to dismantle them but in the end I think this will go for a somewhat large margin.

Todo's Prediction: Losgueros by 100

If we didn’t have JETTY v 0|K this could probably be the MOTW. I say
this, of course, assuming lg actually shows up this week. Cold feet,
Greg? Happens to the best of us…wait no it doesn’t. KTE Greg, KTE. If
Prostar did in fact break his arm, Aborted is without their best player
for another week. Without this kar/bar combination, Aborted is really
going to be hurting. Meanwhile, lg still has chuck on their roster and
they had better play him on this strafe-happy map. Sub is probably a
better sniper than osto, although mid could go back and forth between
the two. The real advantage is going to come from lg’s teamwork. They
are extremely disciplined at holding the middle flag, and once they get
it you can bet they will have multiple people hiding in dark corners
just waiting to break cap attempts. Aborted has the heavy advantage
(even without Prostar), so that could help them some, but it won’t be
enough.

odm's Prediction: lg by 20-

The White Boys have this one. I like aborted, but I don't see anyone on
aborted except for prostar adapting well to the slow play of
dod_donner. Fortunately, this isn't mtan so Prostar will avoid the
proned taunts from Benji. I do see Thesub and gWOLF dictating the pace
of this match and controlling it. I'd also expect gloin to get furious
over my prediction. I may hear his anger in this thread LOL.
Players to watch: sub, teamAborted on Gotfrag forums.

Mitch's Prediction: LosGueros by 30

An 8-3 lg vs. a 7-4 aborted. Both teams are very aggressive and should be expected to push hard, whoever is the slowest to push should take this but I expect it to be very close. Expect a big streak from players such as xome or sexual mayo. A nade of the initial could decide the whole match.
Key players: xome, godfather

Ploofer's Prediction: Lg by -28

aborted has gloin, who is better than all of los gueros combined (as proclaimed by gloin), and since they are playing los gueros, all he has left to do is make it official. He will need to bring his A-game as lg is no pushover and have a solid roster and lack of caring. gueros will prone where necessary(everywhere), but this prediction is based pretty much entirely on gloin's bold statement.
Players to watch: rileyackerman, prostar

Cardboard Robots [19]

vs.

Monitor Tan [10]

As my intelligent co-predicter Slaughter so eloquently put, why is cbR scheduled?

Todo's Prediction: mtan by 1

cbR is still dead. I am jealous of mt for not having to play this bad map.

odm's Prediction: mtan by 1

Watch out next season for virginz. Lead by the awesome power that is
doublechinsbuchan (floss those doublechins) and hammertime. This is
not next season. It's good to see [mtan] receive another FF. CAL hates
you.

Mitch's Prediction: mtan by 1

WE ARE GOING TO FF THIS WEEK, MUCH LIKE WE DID THE LAST TWO WEEKS. GLHF.

Apocalypse Gaming [6]

vs.

Heart-Shaped Box [5]

As my intelligent co-predicter Slaughter so eloquently put, why is hsb scheduled?

Todo's Prediction: Apoc by 1

hsb is dead.

odm's Prediction: Apoc by 1

HAHAH. They died just in time to clean out their lockers and enroll in
high school. If they do get six we will be packing an HLTV full of
people to keep an eye on buchan, inciter, jenova, demetrius, kaus, and
whatever awful 6th they have starting on this scrub team. I hear the
castle wants their troll back, Buchan.

Mitch's Prediction: Apoc by 1

After taking two consecutive shallackings, hsb is all but dead. I believe they called it quits after buchan (surprisingly) couldn't do it with HLTV. Must have been the lag from it or something. If they do decide to play they will still probably fail, especially if the last two week's results mean anything (which they do).
Players to watch: todo, buchan(lol)
