Just tossing this idea out there for you to also consider Omar + the other socal organizers...

possibly use this upcoming Winter LAN to help attract more sponsors and etc to widen the prize pot and give east coast teams better chances to attend.

Not sure if you were planning on it or just having this be the last one, but a majority of the people i've talked to from the east coast have all said if there was a SoCal as well in spring/summer time, they would definitely go.

I agree that it is a better time, but you have to really consider out of the people that said they would, who is really going to go. People on the east coast may say "if we did this in the spring I'd go" now, but I have a feeling that it's going to change when it gets close to the dead line. Now before you get mad, I'm not saying the people you spoke to are going to do this. I'm just tossing out a "what if" just like you did. I don't know who you are refering to when you say "the people I have spoken to" so I am not questioning their character, I'm just saying that it is something Omar has to consider.

On a side note, I think the dod community will be way more willing to participate in a lan during the winter as opposed to it being on their spring break. And if we were to change the date now, people would be forced to compare this to Chi-Lan and assume it is going to fail.

I never said to cancel this LAN, I said to use this LAN as kind of a stepping stone for another bigger SoCAL in spring/summer with a larger pot prize and more backbone from other sponsors, etc etc.

Its the best thing to do imo, especially if you all want ANY competition (i say this loosely) to come back to this game. It might liven it up for a few solid months. I know deep down all you dead game idiots do. <3

If this LAN turns out to be decent to good, they will be willing to throw another one later in the year. We are depending on those from the West who claim they will be going. Let's get 6-10 teams and I don't see why we can't do another one.

My apologies, I misread you post >.< in that case I agree entirely. With promises of another lan people will come back for the competition. The only thing you have to do now is keep cal alive long enough for teams to want to come back.

I can go in the winter but not the spring :/

My ticket would have been more than $700 for the winter and that's the only reason I'm not going.

Assuming no random conflicts, I'd be willing to go to one in spring/summer.

edit: apparently tickets went down to $500, but that's still too much

id go to a spring one.. my winter ticket is over 1000 bucks plus i work on commision and december is when i make nearly 30% of my income for the whole year so taking time off to lan is just silly for me haha

i can tell you for sure that if there is still cal dod and a lan in late spring, onlinethunder would definitely have at least 5 of 6 from our ky team at the lan. so, make this socal a solid success (as omar said, 6-10 teams would suffice given the current number of teams even left in cal) and then hopefully we can give it another stab in spring as well. ive always wanted to hit up cali
