45$? You can't even get Siberias for that kind of money ;\. Nothing in that price range will last you more than 6 months either, unless you never intend to use it and keep it in a box burried 7 feet under the ground.
If you want a cheap and sh*tty headset go for Icemat Siberias (around 50$ I think). If you want a good one with clear sound, you're gonna have to mooch your parents off for another 100$, then you can buy Sennheiser HD-555 or AudioTechnica AH-700.
The AudioTechnica ATH-M30 for £30ish are very good, I use em with music and everything is as good as you could wish for the price. Gaming headphones are so so so overrated, and you do not fvcking need $100 headphones to play counter fvcking strike with, you're not a musician, you don't need to have clarity to hear each instrument properly, it's a damn game. Whats the point? You'll hear as much as anyone down the road that have a $100 pair to the guy who has a $10 pair.
As for how long they last, technicas last a good while and with with some warranty they're fine, you can probably rma it off back to them but the way they're built I doubt you'll see any problems for a good while.
#5 I didn't say that you fvcking moron, I said you'll hear as much as you would with an expensive pair, obviously the expensive pair will sound better. But no you're just one of those idiots that instantly think that expensive = pro. You're just a fcking moron.
Nothing under $45 will last a while? stop fcking talking out of your ass, instantly reccomending some overrated gaming headphones noone ever needs unless they're making a record or seriously get a hardon for good sound. You sir, are a fcking moron. You clearly do not know anything about headphones, so shut up.
I use a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M20 for playing my guitar (no amp, just run a preamp through it) and it sounds crystal clear, the bass is good enough and the highs are nice and crisp. I guarantee I'll be able to hear as much as yahtzee here with his $100 pair of cumstains he isn't even making proper use of playing counter strike all his life.
And no, I don't use them for CS only, I edit music on my computer aswell as watch movies, listen to music and some other things.
I never said "gaming headsets" are good, you ignorant fuck. The so called "gamer headsets" that come with fancy paint jobs are about as useless as you talking about audio equipment.
The two headphones I recommended are both audiophile headphones -- yes, retards that can't afford good audio equipment like you don't really need a pair of audiophile headphones because chances are your PC blows anyway and you have an onboard soundcard that you use to listen to fcking 50 Cent and Eminem.
-You- my friend are the one who has ZERO experience with audio equipment (I bet you never even heard how a good set of headphones + a good soundcard sounds like) so don't ever again talk about audio equipment.
Anyway, audiocubes.com - anything there is worth the money (shameless self advertising for a COMPANY I WORK FOR, DUMBSHIT).
Also, please be kind enough and name me a under 40$ headset that lasted you more than 4 months after constant use (atleast 5 hours a day + lanning with it) if you be so kind, I will be sure to buy one and test it out.
Audio Technica ath-m20 you fvcking dickhead, 1 and a half years and counting, you probably sit on the toilet with yours on.
Also icemat not gaming? Hmmmm yeah yeah they make headphones and mousemats for...umm
Yeah I have a Creative X-fi, so fvck you, you've just got more money than sense. The difference between $100 headphones and $500 headphones are so minimal it's stupid, only an idiot like yourself would buy a pair. And yeah yeah you don't know shit, I work as an audio tech in a local music store so fvck you and your 'audio editing'. He asked for a pair for counter strike, go fvck off to the flstudio or some other audio editing site. He didn't ask for professional perfection, he asked for a pair of headphones that last a while and are around $40 whilst sounding clear. You're just an idiot.
#10 -- yea, i'll give you that, you can't beat AH in terms of quality. I should've put it like this - name me a headset that isn't made by AH and lasts more than 4 months of constant use.
And yes, I "download audio editors off websites", what else should I do, code them? I write my own music and play an electric and acoustic guitar, so I need somewhere to edit that. And yes, you are VERY wrong, the difference between a 100$ and 500$ headphones are huge. And the fact that you refer to headphones as "headsets" just proves that you know nothing about audio equipment. Besides, when talking about headphones you have to put other stuff into account -- things like comfort and quality of the materials used counts alot.
I hardly do any music editing at home that really requires anything special, most the stuff I do, major monitoring and editing I do at the store because I can.
What headphoens to buy?
I'm currently looking for a new pair of headphones between 30-45 USD.
I want something that has clear sound and will last me for a LONG time.
Any help is appreciated
Kind Regards

Not good for public use or recording music.

By the way, get a real soundcard.
yaht = god, but a gay god at that.
I also deal with the mail I get here, on g0tfrag, in the same manner -- http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/vi..
i got these for $40 and they've lasted me 2yrs
i got icemats for 80 bucks and its all worth it
Enough said.
