Counter-Strike: Karpov goes 1 on 1 with eduzin

You know Eduardo "eduzin" Chagas as top tier Brazilian player and familiar face in the international scene. At virtually every tournament he attends, his team ends up in some sort of controversial match with 3D. Will this trend continue? eduzin speaks on this and more live at WSVG.

Note: There is no audio file with this interview.

At the pre WSVG lethal gamers bootcamp g3x placed 5th/6th. This seems a bit low considering a team of your talent. What was your reaction to your pre WSVG results?

We took that tournament more as a practice for CPL [WSVG], we really didn’t care about the results. This is actually not the complete g3x team, there are two former Mibr players ringing (eduzin and pava) so we only had 4 days practice before we came to the United States. We just used the LG as our bootcamp and preparation for this event. We think we prepared there [LG] very well.

At the event you toned your strats and got the team together?

We just tried to do the best just to get more practice; of course we wanted to win...

Yea that extra money helps.

Obviously we wanted the money but we really knew we weren’t 100% or even 50% so we just took more preparation and I think it helped us a lot for that bootcamp, I think we're more confident now.

It seems that g3x always attends the major LAN tournaments in Dallas. What is it about the Dallas tournaments that bring you guys back time and time again?

Well I know g3x comes here every CPL; they have good sponsors from Intel and I believe this is the 7th event g3x has attended. We come here because the best teams in the world are here -- a lot of great competition, good computers, good staff, and the organization is great.

What are g3x's expectations for this event? Would you say a top 5 finish is a realistic goal?

Well yea I guess it’s a realistic goal but we know that we have a lot of work to do, we didn’t have much practice...but we have very good players and very experienced players; most of us have played many CPL events, WCG's, and ESWC's, so we're experienced players we just need to get our team work together and hopefully we can get a top 5. It’s going to be hard; there are a lot of good teams here. I’m personally happy with a top 8 but we're obviously aiming for the top 5 spots.

What 5 teams do you most want to play at WSVG?

Well obviously the Swedish teams are always fun to play against, but I enjoy playing against the American teams.

And I know you personally like to play against 3D a lot.

Yea I do I like to play against 3D a lot.

I remember when Mibr beat 3D back in Winter 03 and you picked up the chair you were sitting on and put it over your head.

Yea there was lots of adrenaline. (eduzin doesn’t recall doing this)

I respect 3D a lot and I think they're a great team so it's always fun to play against them.

What was your reaction when Mibr won ESWC? Were you happy for your homeland rivals or did you not care?

Well personally I’m very happy for them. Obviously I’m a little bit jealous but that’s just normal. They're a great bunch of guysm they deserved it. They're great players, great team, and the owner of Mibr, Paulo, really deserved this win; he was looking for this win for a long time. He’s invested a lot of money into the team and finally Mibr shown something back, so I’m very happy for them.

Being a former Mibr player would you like to have been part of that [ESWC Victory]?

Of course. Like I said I’m a little bit jealous, but I’m very happy for them. I like all 5 of them, they're great guys and great players and I’m really happy for them.

Thanks a lot I really appreciate it, if you want to thank your sponsors go ahead.

Thanks to g3x for bringing me here and their sponsors Intel, and all the fans in Brazil thanks a lot
