This whole time I thought Jlake could spew BS from the hole in his face fast enough to keep it from backing up and clogging his fat head. I was wrong.
Jlake has been a staunch supporter of CSS and CGS's choice of CSS over 1.6. Now I am hearing in forums that he has the audacity to go back on his words, and suggest that the gameplay is why his team did so poorly. Let's get one thing straight: YOU DON'T EVEN PLAY ON THE TEAM! YOUR OPINION DOESN'T COUNT! ESPECIALLY AFTER HYPING SOURCE FOR SO LONG!
I do not know where to begin on the long list of transgressions, so I will just use his most recent interview as an aid while we plunge the sewage from his noggin.
Says Jason Lake, "I believe we’re finishing the first one-third. We’ve got the most loyal fan base in the world and we just got dealt a giant dose of humility by the good Lord."
No you just got dealt a giant smackdown to the nuts from Captain Obvious. You were too busy sniffing your own farts, and making bad decisions to see it coming. As far as having the most loyal fans in the world; tell that to any SK, MIBR or WNV fanboy and you might get your shoes and laptop stolen.
"Ironically I think nothing could have been better...."
Except winning.
"We’ll keep trying to do that, win or lose, but obviously the goal is always to win."
I thought the goal was to squander paychecks for your friends from a suffering television series at a cost of $30k each. If the goal was always to win, why didn't you draft "winners"?
"I’m proud of them for never quitting, but our biggest problem this year was that the people who needed to show up didn’t do so."
Probably because the people who needed to show up weren't drafted. I would say their biggest problem is you.
"It’s almost refreshing to get rid of the bandwagon kids."
Tell that to your merchandising and marketing departments. Oh yeah, and those people you call "bandwagon kids" are actually fans (including adults) that are disgusted by prescripted, over-edited programming, and terrible business decisions in a setting that is supposed to be "Professional"; or at the very least competitive. You should have more respect for the people who even took the time to follow your team's acheivements, or the lack thereof. So in reaction to your poor performance you turn around and take a dump on the fans? What a chump. Your fans are entitled to an honest explanation, and at least an attempt at personal reflection or self-evaluation.
Jlake, CYA more please. You are a class act. Minus the class.
P.S. What about belle? How do you justify that one? Seriously, get off your high horse.
Actually #1. I beg to differ on all of your points. I neglected to read most of what you wrote. I stopped at the passage about col fan's being bandwagoning kids. I've been supportive of coL through good and bad, and they have been my favorite team for about 3 years now. So, you're wrong on that point. If opinions count, we're at 1-1 so far. So suck it.
Secondly, jason lake is an excellent manager. Everyone has their bad days. The yankees don't ALWAYS win, but they win a lot.
ummmmm i think he drafted belle because she looks good in photos and really offsets wardens non-photogenic face.
or maybe he actually thought a low level cs player, even compared to the womens teams, could actually play doa at a competitive level. in that case, mr. lake is completely inept at managing anything outside of a mcdonalds.
Jason gave belle a second chance, by all accounts she was showing improvement. No one team member is supposed to carry the franchise. Having an undefeated source team certainly helped them out a season prior.
The DOA M choice was made on informed input from large community players. He researched his choices.
If you're sore about the zet thing. All I can tell you is that it had to be sooner or later due to his visa status. If he wants to draft a player this season and have them ready for next season it's a good choice.
You didn't write this post at the beginning of the season right after the draft did you? Did you think his choices were bad then? No, obviously not.
It's easy to criticize when you're losing. But if you take a good hard look, next season some choices will definitely be made. Jason Lake is obviously a great manager, that point isn't even up for discussion. He made the right managerial choices based on information provided from leaders in the respective communities. (In my personal opinion keeping belle was questionable, but guess what, no one is perfect and no one has the foresight to know who's going to win constantly.) So please, do me a favor and stop being a hater.
The Yankees don't win because of any good/bad decisions, they win because they have an absolutely ludicrous amount of money to spend on getting all of the top talent. I still like them but don't compare them to a game where money is controlled entirely by the CGS and not the franchises.
And I, for one, agree with #1. Lake has been full of it since he first stepped onto the scene. Again, this is my opinion, but I've always been a pretty good judge of BS. A bullshitter can always, after all, spot another bullshitter.
Personality conflicts aside. He took full responsibility for the loss.
And IN WHAT WAY did he bs from the beginning?
By taking his team to the upper echelon of competitive counter-strike?
Please explain that to me.
If you're upset at the fact that he's projecting his team in the world finals? Why wouldn't he, they certainly have the talent. They won the individual cs title in season one.
It's something called, PRIDE AND FAITH IN YOUR TEAM. He has an intense competitive side and an even intenser belief that his team should be winning.
Why do you dislike competition in a competitive scenario?
#3 you completely missed the point. I did not call their fans bandwagon kids, JLAKE DID. I'm the one that said it is not appropriate. If you take the time to read then you see that I say the fans do care, and deserve better.
As far as opinions go, I read my subject material carefully before offering mine. Since you jumped the gun and spewed brain to keyboard diarrhea on this forum the score is actually 2-0. Me
Actually #6 I did make a post right before the season about how terrible his draft choices were........ What now?
#8 he was certainly full of it the whole time if he was saying Source gameplay is better then and now he is going back on his words.
"Now I am hearing in forums that he has the audacity to go back on his words, and suggest that the gameplay is why his team did so poorly. "
Back that up with a statement please?
And as for the bandwagoners he was referring to just that.... bandwagoners, who cheer coL's win's but then are the first to criticize them when they do poorly.
He didn't come out and call loyal fan's bandwagoners. Loyal fan's can't be called bandwagoners because they know they're loyal fans.
" I thought the goal was to squander paychecks for your friends from a suffering television series at a cost of $30k each. If the goal was always to win, why didn't you draft "winners"? "
Actually he did draft winners.
Secondly, you can't have every pick you want immediately. To get the best in one area you have to sacrifice your choice for the best in another. He did the best he could with the hand he was dealt.
If you knew how drafts worked you wouldn't be such a smug little idiot.
Pretty sure the CGS can't afford to lose any fans. Including the bandwagoners. I'd just like to see CGS not suck, and there are some pretty obvious spots for improvement that few in the CGS are willing to acknowledge.
Jason can't even take the blame for 5 minutes without serving up fresh blame. He starts out with "I take 100% responsibility" and ends with "They didn't come out and play." Clearly he is not taking 100% of the responsibility.
@#8 "Why do you dislike competition in a competitive scenario?" -What? This has no relation to anything you said and will consider it as the brainfart it must be.
The only other thing I have to say is that he DID NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE LOSSES. This is what I mean by bullshit. He says, "I take full responsibility" and then offers several explanations for why the team lost. This is called bullshit and manipulates you into thinking that he's a true blue guy when in fact he's just covering his own @ss. If he truly did take responsibility himself then he wouldn't say things like "my kids didn't come out to play" in reference to his CSS, DOAM and FIFA players.
The truth is that he is just saying all of this "truthfully" to make him seem more likable and congenial. When you grow up with a mother who is a salesperson and do sales yourself you begin to understand bullshit and manipulation in how people phrase things. Lake is doing this PERFECTLY and must be quite good if he was so successful in Real Estate.
Now I don't want you reading this wrong and assume that I don't admire Lake's passion for the game or the sacrifices he has made for eSports. I do. But I also admire how craftily he has pulled a veil over the public's eye.
EDIT: Also #8 read #16's link and the interview behind it fully to understand what I am saying. Maybe before you open your mouth to defend somone you should hear what's coming out of theirs.
I love when people criticize me for having a favorite team and actually supporting them.
Well, at some point.... HIS PLAYERS DIDN'T COME OUT TO PLAY, they did lose, was he himself playing each different game? How is it unfair for him to chock up losing to...... LOSING??!
#18 YOU AGAIN DODGE WHAT I AM ACTUALLY SAYING. I am saying that Jason Lake is full of bullshit. FULL OF IT. I'm not saying that he's fully responsible, I'm just pointing out the contradictions in what he is saying.
"I need to do better and I accept 100 percent of the blame. At the end of the day it all rides on my shoulders and regardless of what excuses I may have, I give them zero credence. We’ll try to do better next year." -later in the same interview- "This includes myself because at the end of the day I take 100 percent responsibility. The three squads that were supposed to really carry us were actually our biggest problems. Counter-Strike, FIFA, and Perfect Legend (Complexity’s Dead or Alive 4 male player, Carl White) all didn’t show up this year. I’m proud of them for never quitting, but our biggest problem this year was that the people who needed to show up didn’t do so."
Is that him taking responsibility or is that him cleverly manipulating words to make it seem like he is accepting responsibility but is really just pawning the responsibility off on 'his guys'?
#7 I happen to be a Yankees fan, and we havent won a world series since 2000 (since 2000, we've been spending ludicrous amounts of money in order to buy a title, and it hasnt worked)
Pre-2001, the Yankees were just like any other franchise, except they were very good at scouting, developing talent, and finding guys who probably were not the greatest at their position, but made plays when they counted and were excellent leaders.
when you compare the line-up from today's yankees team to the teams of old, you can just see the disparity.
the old teams had guys like david wells, david cone, tino martinez, paul o'niell, scott broscious. none of those guys were perennial allstars, but they did their jobs well.
honestly im disgusted with what the yankees have done.
i would have loved to see them get rid of a-rod, johnny damon, jason giambi and start guys like melky.
oh yeah, coL. i'm sorry JLAKE, 2-11 in the CGS is just unacceptable, thats on you bud.
The "*PEW* *PEW* *PEW* *PEW* ^^FIREWORKXZZZZ^^" Guy.
And, for the record, I'm not a bandwagon kid. I'm just not. I have been a fan of 3D for as long as I can remember and am EXTREMELY disappointed that they accomplished so much only to have it amount to nothing. I COULD blame the structure of the CGS for allowing a team who is 4-8 to enter the playoffs or perhaps blame the structure of the games and a blackout on one of 3D's gamedays for, somehow, screwing up the playoff games. But I don't. I blame 3D for not being able to come up clutch - which has always been their problem.
You're missing what i'm saying. He's being CORDIAL in stating that the responsibility rests on him because it would be rude to do otherwise. He's being supportive towards his players. But that doesn't mean they aren't exempt from criticism, they need to do better and he was pointing it out.
In reality the responsibility DOES rest with the team, if they don't win, the franchise doesn't win. Period.
lol, well said #21. I'm a dodgers fan and they are excellent at scouting but their team is always filled with a bunch of youngnz
Honestly man even if he did say his players didn't show up, maybe its a little bit of both. 5 allstars don't always win together, it takes players who know their roles and what not. I can't wait to see them play 1.6.
Jlake is an arrogant...
