Just wondering what you're local cs 1.6 lan tournament scene is like.
- How many teams sign up to qualifiers? - Are they national-scale events that you play in or local qualifiers FOR those events? - How much does it cost you and your team to play? - Do you think your LAN scene is good/competitive? - How often are tournies? And where?
Just interested to see how lan scenes out there in the world compare to Aus's.
We have one lan a year here in Atlantic Canada entitled Lansomnia. There was a few back in the day but they died. Last 3 years of LS it played 1.6 as its main game. Now its switched to Source.
Teams come to some events, not to others. Vanlan will be monstrous. lots of local teams, and a pretty good number of american teams have made the drive over the past year as well.
arizona lan scene is dead :( we used to be able to pull 10+ team tourneys... now a 5 man tourney would be a miracle. =[[ we just have #phx and #high-velocity and some newer teams that i don't even know =[
the lan scene in washington used to be dank... there was tsg, cg, lanwerx, xg, and gc... the only one left is gc, but they haven't had a tourney in like 2+ years :/
I have to go to a town called Lund to go to LAN events because there are none in my hometown Malmoe that I know of. The LAN scene in my "state" (Scania) is quite good and competitive, although there are few events. The swedish online-scene is very bad, because of all the cheaters, so therefore my team goes to as many LAN's as possible
- qualifiers always get full a week before they start - there are both - depends where we have to go but doesnt get really expensive ... my team generally doesnt travel to far to play - internally it has some good teams that actually give to the community good matches but international-wise everybody knows it =/ - in my region (Lisbon) there are tourneys almost every weekend, there are 4 lan-houses that organize CS tournaments
GameFrog has 5 locations in North Carolina and has around a 10 team tournament every few months.
ComputerArena near Atlanta, Georgia is the biggest LAN center in the USA and is going to start holding events very soon.
Gigabits in Orlando, Florida holds tournaments ever 2 or so months for 1.6 and Source and always has a good show of skilled players to each.
X3O of course is the king at the moment, holding more cash prize tournaments than any other center along the east coast. Located in Rockville, MD, x3o talks to local hotels and gets the teams discount room prices at a hotel within walking distance.
