America's Army: CEVO Tourney - Super Six

By: Dave Munro - Published July 31, 2008 at 4:25 PM EDT - Writer Archive
A couple more weeks have passed in the CEVO Summer Tournament. Only 6 teams are left to battle for the title and the small cash prize of $250.

Last 6 teams alive are:

United States just Cause project (BYE to Finals)
United States overRated (BYE to Semi-finals)
United States Mug N' Mouse
United States Rising Storm
United States Lost Cause
United States Conviction

Round 5 Recaps

overRated vs just Cause project

As expected this match was a classic! oR was taking it to jCp on assault and showed why they are such a strong team on IC take 4 of the 7 rounds. overRated was in very good shape only having to win 4 rounds on defense, but jCp's patience paid off and they were able to clutch the final round to tie it up 7 a piece! In OT, jCp used the momentum they had to win both rounds on defense and followed it with a winning round on assault to claim the victory. This moved jCp into the finals, whereas overRated would have another chance to beat them later on if they were able to get past the strongest team coming out of the loser bracket down the road. Result: jCp > oR 8-7.

Even Flow vs Version 3

Not much to say besides Even Flow is dead. Result: v3 > eFlow by forfeit.

Rising Storm vs Team Exigence

As expected Rising Storm dominated eXg with the 8-0 sweep. Result: rS > eXg 8-0.

New Era Gaming vs No Hesitation

The result of this match was deemed drama worthy as the hacker team got romped 8-0 by No Hesitation. The current update on New Era Gaming is that they've been kicked out of CAL for using macro exploits. GG's try playing legit sometime. Result: nH > neg 8-0.

Mug N' Mouse vs Final Destination-I

This was supposed to be a fantastic match between 2 top notch teams. Instead it was an embarassing defeat for Final Destination-I, who only claimed 1 round in the match. I wasn't able to find logs to see whether FD played short-handed. An impressive score for MNM either way. Result: MNM > FD 8-1.

Round 6 Recaps

Mug N' Mouse vs No Hesitation

One week after No Hesitation rolled over New Era Gaming, they were returned the favor by Mug N' Mouse. MNM handled No Hesitation quite easily and showed once again that Urban is one of the top maps in match-play. Result: MNM > nH 8-1.

Rising Storm vs Version 3

Of the two round 6 matchups, this was the one expected to end in a blow-out. Version 3 would have none of that and kept the score close in the first half with a 3-4 score. The tables turned on them in the second half where Rising Storm showed their true colors winning 4 of the next 5 rounds en route to their inevitable victory. Result: rS > v3 8-4.

After rounds 5 and 6 were all said and done, 6 more teams were eliminated from the tournament. Those being; Team Exigence, Even Flow, New Era Gaming, Final Destination, Version 3, and No Hesitation.

Round 7 Previews

The map for round 7 is Mout McKenna which coincides with the first round CAL playoff map. Some people hate this map, some people love it. It makes for some very fast paced rounds, some tricky set nades, and often comes down to intense 1v1 CQB battles.

Rising Storm vs Conviction

Well unfortunately Conviction lost half of their members as they recently joined Mug N' Mouse. The only reason I can see Conviction playing this match is to try and knock out Rising Storm and give their new team Mug N' Mouse a better chance of advancing on. The problem is they will have to convince one more Conviction member to be their 4th, making the roster bdmg, jeee, bama and 1 more. To be honest, as strong as Rising Storm is, it won't matter whether Conviction finds 4 to play. The storm will be a rising and will strike down the opforians!

Mug N' Mouse vs Lost Cause

It's been almost 1 month since Lost Cause's last match in this tourney, where they lost 8-3 to overRated. They will get another chance to face a top team on a very fast paced map. They will surely need some tricks up their sleeve to take down such a strong team as Mug N' Mouse. Hopefully Lost Cause is able to put in lots of practice for this match to at least give themselves a fighting chance. Either way, they aren't going to win, but at least they will gain valuable experience from their loss.
